Written all over, notices on frontline,
Death is here, and it won’t be benign,
Still he has always ignored that sign,
Always remember a Doc is no less than Divine,

All your stars start dimming its shine,
Whether you scream at him or whine,
He’s always there, no matter what time,
Do remember, a Doc always helps before Divine.

In agony of illness you ask, punishment for what crime,
While all your phony  celebrities just wine and dine,
He’s the one who’s on duty, amid the bottles of saline,
Please admire, that Doc who is always more than Divine.

Yes he might have faults, with petty selfish crime,
He’s still a human, but really doing something sublime,
All his sacrifices for the society, still there isn’t any shrine!
I for myself, always put him before anything Divine!

Corona virus pandemic has brought the focus back to the two most important pillars of the society, i.e. Politicians and Doctors / healthcare workers. I am pretty sure that as usual politicians will escape the blame for bad governance or at most they will lose the next election and nothing more is there for them to lose. But healthcare workers can neither shirk from their duty nor they will be able to escape from the deadly scares of the deadly disease.

We often say that the doctor is not a God but I would say he’s more than that.

you might have heard this,

ગુરુ ગોવિંદ દોનો ખડે, કિસકો લાગુ પાય…

( When both my teacher and God, standing in front of me, it’s a real dilemma that whom should I greet first? )

Well, eventually the verse goes to say that one should always greet the teacher / Guru, first because due to his teachings the person has eventually been able to find the God. But I would say, you should greet the doc who has kept you alive first to get all that knowledge, and he is the one whom you should always be thankful to in the first place.  

We often forget that these are the individuals who are always at the frontline of the fight for the deadly diseases. Soldiers fight rarely but they fight every day. Every other profession shirks from the duty when there is question of life and death but a doctor always stands between you and your next birth!

Of course everything has bad apples examples. But the sacrifices doctors and healthcare workers make are so enormous that those things hardly count. In most other professions, mistakes are either ignored or they don’t cause as much harm as in healthcare profession. They are always on their toes and always have to deliver the best and nothing less is expected from them.

Many blame doctors for poor treatment and shabby facilities. But with introspection you will know that you must blame it all on ‘yourself’ not the doctors! Because they are just performing their duty the best way they can with whatever have been provided to them. To make best possible care available for every individual is something falls under the realm of government. And in democratic environment, you elect the government. So next time you whine about poor healthcare facilities, ask yourself for whom you have voted for and why and you will get answer to all you questions. Questions about the limited resources is ridiculous because with just a tiny fraction of nations defense budget, every person on the country can get free education and free healthcare! Now do the math yourself!

Besides, even if many people are behaving like idiots, even during such horrific covid-19 pandemic, and spreading the virus with their boneheaded behavior, their family might disown them for that but still doctors will provide service to such morons without any compromise.

Again, heartfelt thanks to all doctors and healthcare workers. No amount of words will suffice the sacrifice you are making but it’s just tiny effort to appreciate your value in society 🙂
