Buddh

Here are another few lines to expand on the subject of illusion further.

“Nihil admirari” – This Latin phrase can be translated as ‘to be surprised / astonished by noting’ has been considered as one of the qualities to have in order to be and remain happy.  Geeta (2.29), with ” आश्चर्यवत् पश्यति कस्चिदेनम् …. ” and Kathopanishad (1.2.7) also alludes to the similar thoughts, albeit with more depth and discussion.

Let me explain.

People get surprised ( good or bad ) by something which they have never thought about / imagined or from something incomprehensible.  But a ‘Buddh’ ( FYI, it’s not Buddha but just Buddh ) – the one who knows the essence of the things – has nothing to be surprised about.  Since there is nothing new under the sun and it’s just an interplay between nature’s various characteristics ( Geeta -3.28 – “गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त “). Thus, such person can never be fooled by outwardly ostentatious stuff.

Now, when you know it through, you never lose the objectivity of the things and are able to see the things clearly.  You escape the unnecessary entanglements in the form of useless desires or expectations. That unburdens you and eventually makes you totally free! That free person – A real Buddh with such free mind is never going to surrender to anyone.  Only a person like Diogenes who has understood the real freedom can dare say to Alexander the great to move out of the way from the sunlight falling on him with total disregard to useless worldly achievements.

And as we can see, most people are tied to their self created webs and refuse to learn anything. But still they keep on complaining about their current state of affairs and wish for freedom, which ironically is another such entanglement!

Change of people around you or a change of place is not what one needs to feel free and happy. It is the knowledge and realization about the truth, which makes you free and joyful instead.
