શ્રીમદ્દ ભગવદ્દ ગીતા

આપણા અમૂલ્ય આધ્યાત્મિક જ્ઞાનને ચિંતનશીલ અને મનનશીલ લોકો સમક્ષ મુકવાની ઈચ્છા કેટલાક વર્ષોથી હતી. એ પણ એવી રીતે કે જેથી લોકો તેનો સાચો અર્થ સમજી શકે અને ખરેખર જીવનમાં ઉતારી શકે. આધ્યાત્મિકતાના ઓઠા હેઠળ લોકોને ભ્રમિત કરવાના કથિત સાધુસંતોના સતત પ્રયાસોથી અને ગીતાના નામે ચાલતા ગોરખધંધાથી આપણા અદભુત તત્વજ્ઞાનની છબી એવી ખરડાઈ ગઈ છે કે શું સાચું અને શું ખોટું એ કહેવું સામાન્ય માણસ માટે ખુબજ અઘરું થઇ ગયું છે. 

કોઈ કાંઈ કરતુ નથી એમ કહીને બેસી રહેવાનો મારો સ્વભાવ નથી. એટલે ખોબે ખોબે પણ જેટલી બની શકશે એટલી ગંદકી હું ઉલેચ્યા જ કરીશ. આમાં કોઈ પરમાર્થવૃત્તિ કરતાં તો મારા સ્વાર્થની જ ભાવના છે, કારણ કે જો હું આમ કોઈ પ્રામાણિક પ્રયાસ કરીશ તો જ હું મારા પરમ ગુરુ મહાયોગેશ્વર પૂર્ણપુરષોત્તમ ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષણની સામે આંખોમાં આંખો મિલાવીને જોઈ શકીશ. 

બાકી મારે જે કાંઈ પણ કહેવાનું છે એ આ શ્રીમદ્દ ભગવદ્દ ગીતાના અભ્યાસ પ્રવચનોની પ્રસ્તાવનામાં કહી જ દીધું છે.

જે મિત્રોએ આ કાર્ય શરુ કરવામાં મદદ કરી છે એમનો ખુબ જ આભારી છું.

રાજકારણી રંગલો

એક રંગલો છે રંગભૂમિનો ખરો કલાકાર,
એની લીલાનો જનતા કદી ના પામે પાર,

સત્તાભૂખ  એ  જ એના સર્વ કર્મોનો સાર,
ઠેર ઠેર મીડિયામાં એના ગપ્પાનો પ્રચાર,

એક આપીને દસ લેવાનો એનો વ્યવહાર,
લલ્લુ જનતા જાય લુંટાતી બનીને લાચાર,

ઉલ્લુ પ્રજા સુજાવે છે હાસ્યાપદ ઉપચાર,
જમણાને તો બહુ માર્યો હવે ડાબે તું માર,

ગુંડા-લુખ્ખાઓ પર પાર્ટી કરતી ઉપકાર,
બેવકૂફોની ટોળીથી જ એ ચલાવે સરકાર,

એના તોતિંગ તાયફાનો પ્રજા પર બહુ ભાર,
મૂર્ખાઓને મન આ જ તો છે ધરમની સરકાર,

કૃષ્ણ કહે, હૃષી રંગલાઓનો અહીં નથી પાર,
વાઢવા બેસું તો બુઠ્ઠી પડે આ સુદર્શનની ધાર.

બૉલીવુડના કલાકારો પણ દિલ્લીની જાત્રાએ જાય છે કરણકે આ નટનટીઓના ઇષ્ટદેવ ત્યાં શાક્ષાત બિરાજે છે. વર્ષોથી એકના એક જ ગપ્પાંવાળા ડાયલોગ બોલીને બહુમતી કેમ મેળવાય એ કલા એમને હસ્તગત છે.

ધૃતરાષ્ટ્રની સત્તા લોલુપતાએ તો પોતાના જ વંશનો અને સાથે સાથે લખો નિર્દોષોનો નાશ નોતર્યો. કંસે તો સત્તા ટકાવવા વ્રજના અગણિત બાળકોના જીવ લીધા. આખો દેશ આ કથાઓ જાણતો હોવા છતાં કોઈ બોધ લેતો નથી. એ જ સાબિતી છે કે મનુષ્ય જાણે છે ઘણું પણ આચરણ અને બોધ વગર બધું વ્યર્થ છે.

ઉપરોક્ત ઉદાહરણ અત્યારના સત્તા સ્વાર્થી રાજકારણીઓને બખૂબી લાગુ પડે છે. દેશમાં લખો લોકો મરે છે પણ અવતારપુરુષ તો અન્ય પ્રાંતોમાં ધર્મધજા લહેરાવવામાં મશગુલ છે. અરે ભાઈ સત્તા લઈને પણ તારે કરવું છે શું એ તો કહે? દિલ્લીમાં પ્રવર્તમાન સરકાર કોઈ સારા કામ ના કરી શકે એ માટે રાતોરાત કાયદો લાવીને લ્યુટેનન્ટ ગવર્નરની સત્તા વધારીને કેન્દ્ર સરકારે એ તો સાબિત કરી જ દીધું છે કે, “હું સારું તો કરતો નથી પણ કોઈને કરવા દેતો પણ નથી” એ જ સૂત્ર સાથે અમે સબકા વિનાશ હમારા વિકાસના એક માત્ર ધ્યેય માટે કાર્યરત છે.

એક તસુભાર પણ સત્તા જતી ના રહે એની બીક આ અવતારપુરુષને એટલી બધી છે કે એ બધી જગાએ એવા જ મંત્રીઓની નિમણૂંક કરે છે કે એ ફક્ત એમના ધાવણ પર જ નભતા હોય. અત્યારે જયારે એવા સ્થાનિક વહીવટી અધિકારીઓ અને મંત્રીઓની જરૂર છે કે જે જનસેવામાં ત્વરિત નિર્ણયો લઇ શકે ત્યારે અહીં ફક્ત અબુધ ધાવતા બાળકો જ રમ્યા કરે છે.   

અત્યારે થતા મોટાભાગના મોત માટે સરકારની અણઆવડત જવાબદાર છે. તમને જો એવું લાગતું હોય કે આ કોરોના તો વૈશ્વિક મહામારી છે અને થોડા સમય પછી જતી રહેશે પછી તો જલસા જ છે. તો હે અલ્પબુદ્ધિ વડીલ આ વાત કોતરી રાખો કે આપના દાદાશ્રી અને પિતાશ્રી પણ આવું જ વિચારતા હતા અને એમની વિકેટ પડી ગઈ છે. જો તમે અત્યારે જેમ તેમ બચી જશો અને આવી જ જડતા જાળવી રાખશો તો નજીકના ભવિષ્યમાં તમે પણ પૂરતી તબીબી સુવિધાના અભાવે કે આપના માનીતા મંત્રીશ્રીની અણઆવડતના પ્રભાવે રન આઉટ થશો. વધુમાં આપનો કુલદીપક કે દીપિકા પણ કયા વાવાઝોડામાં હોલવાઈ જશે એની ખબર પણ નહિ પડે. માટે જ કહું છું કે આપના પૂર્વજોએ કરેલી ભૂલોને સુધારો અને એક સુગઠિત સુશાશનયુક્ત સમૃદ્ધ રાષ્ટ્રના નિર્માણ માટે આજથી જ પાયો નાખો. નહીંતર જો કોરોનામુકત હોવ તો અભણ, લુખ્ખા અને ભ્રષ્ટાચારીઓને વહીવટ સોંપવાનો સ્વાદ તો આપ ચાખી જ રહ્યા છો.

અર્જુન : હે કેશવ, આ પ્રજા કહે છે કે કોઈ વિકલ્પ નથી. શું એ વાત સાચી છે?

શ્રીકૃષ્ણ ( સસ્મિત ઉત્તર આપે છે ) : પાર્થ, વિકલ્પો તો હંમેશા હતા, છે, અને રહેશે. પણ મનુષ્યની મૂર્ખતા દ્વારા એ ઢંકાયેલા રહે છે.

અર્જુન : વાસુદેવ, મારુ મન તો આ અકારણ ઢળતી લાશોના ઢગલા જોઈને વ્યથિત થઇ રહ્યું છે.

શ્રીકૃષ્ણઃ એમના કર્મનોનું ફળ એમને ભોગવવા દે પાર્થ. મેં એમને બુદ્ધિ આપી જ છે. જો ઉદ્ધાર કરવો હશે તો વાપરશે…

Darkness & Depression

Whenever,
In the dark corners of your heart you go,
Daemons possess you,
Making you feel so low,

Will you ever be able to see the light again?,
You don’t know,
Those empty moments are so crushing,
And it feels so raw,

All those words,
Suddenly echoing with advices you never heed,
All those wounds,
Suddenly goes more deep as you start to bleed,

Whenever darkness shrouds your path,
And you know not where will it lead,
A glimmer of hope, is all you need,
A moment of future, as a seed,
A light which can lead,
And a warm heart, forgetting all your past deed.

There is a reason why an unparalleled and deeply philosophical “Geeta” starts with “ArjunVishad Yog“. But not everybody is fortunate enough to have a companion like Krishna to pull him out of it. Or rather I should say, not everybody can be deserving enough like Arjun that Krishna will help. Well, but Krishna, one of the greatest forms of sublimity to ever exist, has left the eternal words for us to learn from.

While I agree that normal human beings are incapable of dealing with too much emotional distress, I have found that most of the problems arise because of our habit of making mountains out of molehill. Besides, most of our uneasiness with existence is derived from raw sensations. Our happiness and sadness is mostly because of our sensory experiences and has nothing to do with the totally incorrect and hackneyed  phrases saying that existence in itself is painful. Even Krishna tries to kicks such nonsense out with very first utterance of advice to Arjun by saying that (क्ष्रुद्रं ह्रदयदौर्बल्यं तयक्त्वोतिष्ठ परन्तप – Geeta – 2.3) it really doesn’t suit the worrier like you, so just get rid of such nonsensical emotional weakness and stand up.

If a person just simply understands that which is gone cannot be brought back and that which is not in our control cannot be controlled, will make most of the worries and anxieties totally unjustified. All the advice from Krishna in “Sankhya Yog” ending with “…शोचितुमर्हसि ” tries to convey that meaning.

In his play Richard-II, Shakespeare has this dialogue, “….Cry woe, destruction, ruin and decay, The worst is death, and death will have his day.” Similar to, जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च… ( Geeta – 2.27 )… Whatever / Whoever is born is destined to die ( or every beginning has an end ) and whatever is gone will come back too ( every dead will be reborn )… Ever wonder why everything is circular / round in nature / Universe ? 😉

So, now you tell me, what’s there to worry? 😉

જાગ્રત સમય

મલિન મન મનુજને રાતદિવસ ડહોળે,
ભલે  એ  જાતને ગંગામાં રોજ ઝબોળે,
અલિપ્ત  રહેવું,  ના વહેવું  કોઈ ટોળે,
જાગ્રત તો બસ મનથી મનને જ ખોળે,

ભવિષ્ય  ઓછું એ ભૂતકાળ વાગોળે,
દુઃખી રાહ જુએ ભવિષ્યની કાગડોળે,
સ્થિતપ્રજ્ઞ જ સર્વકાળ સુખી છે ‘હૃષી’,
તત્વજ્ઞ ના ચઢે  કોઈ કાળના હિંડોળે.

માનવ જીવનના બે સૌથી મહત્વના પ્રશ્નો જો કોઈ હોય તો એ છે, જાગૃત અવસ્થા એટલે શું? અને સમય શું છે?  ( સ્પષ્ટતા : મહત્વના એના માટે કે જેનામાં મગજ છે અને જે એ વાપરવા ઉત્સુક છે. બાકીના બેવકૂફો માટે તો બીજા હજારો પ્રશ્નો મહત્વના છે જેની ચર્ચા અત્રે ઉપસ્થિત નથી. )

હકીકતમાં જાગૃત ( enlightened  ) માટે સમયનું અસ્તિત્વ નથી અને જે સમયથી પર થાય છે એ એક સંપૂર્ણ જાગૃત અવસ્થા જ હોઈ શકે. માટે ઉપરોક્ત બંને પ્રશ્નોના જવાબો અંતે તો એક જ સત્ય તરફ નિર્દેશ કરે છે. માટે જ નરસિંહ મહેતા કહે છે કે,

જાગીને જોઉં તો જગત દીસે નહિ,ઊંઘમાં અટપટા ભોગ ભાસે;
ચિત્ત ચૈતન્ય વિલાસ તદ્રુપ છે, બ્રહ્મ લટકાં કરે બ્રહ્મ પાસે …

સામાન્ય બૌદ્ધિક વિચારધારાનો ( common purpose rationality ) પ્રતિવાદ હોઈ શકે કે હોવું કે ના હોવું એ દ્રષ્ટા પર આધારિત કેવી રીતે હોઈ શકે જયારે દ્રશ્યનું સ્વતંત્ર અસ્તિત્વ છે. આ જ તો બૌદ્ધિકતા અને તાત્વિકતા વચ્ચેનો ભેદ છે. પણ એ ગીતાજ્ઞાન અન્ય કોઈ પ્રસંગે પિરસીશું. અત્યારે ગીતાના સાંખ્યયોગના આ શ્લોકો વધારે સુસંગત છે

ન ત્વેવાહં જાતુ નાસં ન ત્વં નેમે જનાધિપાઃ|
ન ચૈવ ન ભવિષ્યામઃ સર્વે વયમત: પરમ||

દેહિનોસ્મિન યથા દેહે કૌમારં યૌવનં જરા |
તથા દેહાન્તર પ્રાપ્તિર્ધીરસ્તત્ર ન મુહ્યતિ ||

(ગીતા 2.12,13)

અર્થાત, શ્રી કૃષ્ણ અર્જુનને કહે છે કે  એવું ક્યારેય ન હતું કે હું ના રહ્યો હોઉં કે તું ના રહ્યો હોય અથવા તો આ બધા રાજાઓ ના રહ્યા હોય. વળી એવું પણ નથી કે પછી ભવિષ્યમાં આપણે બધા નહિ હોઈએ. જેમ દેહમાં રહેલો આત્મા આ શરીરમાં બાળપણ, યુવાવસ્થા અને વૃદ્ધાવસ્થામાંથી નિરંતર પસાર થતો રહે છે, તેવી જ રીતે, મૃત્યુ પછી આત્મા બીજા શરીરમાં પ્રવેશે છે. ધીર પુરુષ આવા પરિવર્તનોથી મૂંઝાતો નથી.  

મેં ક્યારેય કોઈ બાળકને ભૂતકાળની વાતો કરતા નથી સાંભળ્યું. કારણ સ્પષ્ટ છે, કે એની પાસે એટલી બધી મોજ આવનારા ભવિષ્યમાં કેદ છે કે એને કદી પાછા ફરીને જોવાનો વિચાર જ આવતો નથી. આવી જ રીતે, કોઈ પણ જીવનની મોજથી ભરેલા વ્યક્તિ પાસેથી તમે ફક્ત ભવિષ્યના અંતરંગ વિચારો સાંભળશો. જો કોઈ ભૂતકાળની વાતો કરી કરી ને પકાવે તો સમજવું કે હવે આ ભાઈ કે બહેન ફક્ત જીવતી લાશ છે.

જે એ સમજી ચૂકયા છે કે જીવન એ કોઈ શરૂઆત નથી અને મૃત્યુ એ અંત નથી એ જ આનંદથી ભરેલા જોવા મળશે.

2020 એ ઈશ્વરે લીધેલી એક surprise test હતી. તમારું પરિણામ જાણવા નીચેના વિકલ્પમાંથી કોઈ એક પસંદ કરો.

પરિણામ : ઈશ્વરને બીજા હજારો કામ છે, એ કોઈ ડફોળ પૃથ્વીવાસીઓની પરીક્ષા લેવા નવરા નથી. માટે પોતાની જાતને એટલી મહત્વની સમજવાની ભૂલ કરવાવાળા બધા નાપાસ.. હા હા હા… 😉

Brain Drain

વિદ્વાને ત્યજવો એ પ્રદેશ, જ્ઞાન-કલાનું જ્યાં માન નથી,
રાજ્યકર્તાઓ  ભ્રષ્ટચારી  અને પ્રજાને કોઈ સાન નથી,
અર્જુન  જેવા  શિષ્ય માટે કદી દુર્લભ ગીતા જ્ઞાન નથી,
ડફોળશંકરો માટે ક્યારેય અવતરતા કૃષ્ણ ભગવાન નથી,

શું  સમજાવું  હું  ભલા  એને   જેને  કાંઈ  ભાન  નથી?
ઊંધે  ઘોડે  ફરે એને  કેમ કહેવું કે પૂંછ એ લગામ નથી!
શબ્દો  મારા  ફક્ત  સહાયક  છે  હૃષી,  ફરમાન  નથી,
જો  તીર   બનવાની ત્રેવડ ના હોય તો, હું કમાન નથી.

People who talk about ‘Brain-Drain’ have evidently drained their own brains because what’s the point in sawing the best seed in arid and hostile land!

Best artists, intellectuals and wise-men should move to the land which is fertile for their quest for excellence and knowledge. Because being in the situation where such individual’s energies are being wasted is a huge loss of entire human race.

Let’s say, a person is an exceptional mathematician and living in a country where M means just madness. If this person moves to the environment which is conducive, the person will be able to do something which is going to be helpful for millions of people around the globe. A scientist cannot let her talents being wasted where there is no laboratory to support her abilities. If given proper tools that scientist may be able to find a cure for billions.

Art and knowledge can be utilized by anyone around the world and that doesn’t care about the BS-ish boundaries of marked territories, confined religious segments, ridiculous rigidness of race etc. A beautiful painting or unique sculpture or melodious music or a scientific principle or a lifesaving drug etc provides the same effect, regardless of human imaginary confinements. Thus, the talent possessing such potential must be free to move and prosper the best place it deems worth.

In modern times, we have witnessed the rise of a nation ( everybody is aware about its name, so no need to mention ) in just couple of hundred years, which is kind of juggernaut in many aspects and its meteoric rise in almost all fields is the result of the migration of the smartest people across the planet to this particular nation. Those whose exceptional talents would have simply disappeared from the surface of the earth if they have been left to decay in their own SH-ish countries, have been able to make enormous impact on society, just due to the availability of the right kind of environment.

So the next time someone makes an argument about Brain Drain, ask them if the container utterly contaminated by corruption, nepotism, religious rigidity, superstitiousness, ancient infrastructure, eroded education system and large amount of abhorrently foolish particles ( ohh sorry people if they can be classified so! ), is capable enough to hold the pure ‘Ganga-jal’ 😉
